Youth Swim Classes
Living in West Michigan, we have many opportunities to participate in water activities. The SLCFAC wants to make sure that everyone is comfortable with their swimming experience by providing group lessons for ages 6 months on up. Group lessons are available for members and nonmembers. One certified instructor per 5 participants in each class; except for Water Babies – parents are in the water for the class.
The Tri-Cities Family YMCA in collaboration with the Spring Lake Community Fitness & Aquatic Center (SLCFAC) is pleased to announce that we will be offering a YMCA/USA swim team for the 2017--18 season.
Brandon Muma has been hired to serve as the Head Coach of the “Tri-Cities Guardians” swim team.
Our goal is to give swimmers of all levels – from beginners to national-caliber athletes – an opportunity to grow and achieve personal excellence in swimming. We will also promote the values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility for the program, coaches, parents, other teams and teammates. The leadership from both organizations is very excited about this joint venture and we see the recruitment of Coach Brandon as a key factor in ensuring the success of our swim team! Every summer (usually in August) the Spring Lake Community Fitness and Aquatic Center Hosts a Kids Triathlon. The Triathlon is held in the competition pool for the swim portion, and on the grounds of the Spring Lake High School and Leonard Street Bike path for the run and bike portion of the race.
Youth Martial Arts
The SLCFAC is proud to host martial arts with Bulldog Martial Arts. The martial arts program is a great opportunity to learn self defense for numerous career fields and is open to adults and children.
Lakeshore Diving Club
The Lakeshore Diving Club is primarily for those 8-18 years of age looking to improve their diving skills. Divers should have prior recreational or competitive experience. For those that do not have the experience, an evaluation of the diver will be done by one of the Lakeshore Diving coaches. After the evaluation, a private or group lesson may be recommended before joining the club to teach some basic diving skills. Click here for current session information. Lifeguard Certification / Re-certification Courses (15 and up)
Candidates will be certified or re-certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/FA, AED. For re-certification participants must have held current certifications within the 90 days. Next Session: Click here for more information and registration form.

KIDS/TEENS CROSS TRAINING
The SLCFAC believes athletic training is an essential component of an athlete’s life, as well as living a healthy lifestyle.
Our high-energy cross training combines cardiovascular/resistance/strength training and functional training in a one of a kind environment. Our program is designed to help kids and teens work on developing cardiovascular/muscular endurance, weight loss, team work and perseverance of physical and mental challenges. The atmosphere created by the class is fun and motivations which fosters a “can do” attitude. No two classes are the same. Kids and teens will not be bored and the originality of each workout keeps them excited about participating. All of the movements are taught safely and effectively under the close supervision of the thoroughly trained instructor. For kids who are new to exercise, our program introduces them to fitness at an early age and makes it easier for them to continue this “healthy habit” for the rest of their lives. For kids who are already exercising or playing sports, our program is designed to help them reach their next level of fitness and improve their performance no matter what sport they play.

This program will expose your young wrestler to the exciting and challenging sport of wrestling. Each wrestler will learn fundamental skills and moves of high school (folk style) wrestling. We will work hard to provide a safe, supportive, and fun wrestling experience. It is our hope that your child will leave with basic understanding of how to wrestle and desire to keep learning in years to come. We also hope they have fun!
